A beautifully colored Cichlid from Lake Victoria. This species can reach a max size of 4.5" inches. The name Haplochromis Nyererei was given in honor of Julius Nyerere (1922-1999) who was President of Tanzania from 1961–1985. This species is aggressive and should be provided with a lot pf rocks to create caves and crevices where they can each claim a territory in the aquarium. The aquarium should have a great filtration system as the Haplochromis Nyererei can be sensitive to high Nitrate build up.
