Congo Tetra (Phenacogrammus interruptus) are a popular choice for medium to large size fish communities. They are commonly sold young at approximately 1.5" inches. A good tropical fish diet will help them grow fast and healthy. We recommend aquariums of 30 gallons or larger to keep a large healthy colony. They are highly active swimmers and will take advantage of larger sized tanks. Thicker leaf plants are recommended as they are known to nibble on softer leaf plant when hungry. This energetic species truly benefits from a well balanced diet of Pellets, Bloodworms, and Brine Shrimp. Feeding at least two times a day will not only supply them with energy, but will also bring up their amazing rainbow coloration sooner. Expect them to start coloring up at around 2" inches. Males are easily identified once they mature, they will simply develop extraordinary feathery white tipped fins, while the female's remain shorter.
