Taiwan Reef Cichlid (Protomelas Sp. "Steveni Taiwan")

The Taiwan Reef is sports an impressive mixture of colors. It is a fairly peaceful species that allows them to fit in most African Cichlid Communities with ease. It will grow to a max size of 6" inches, but in some cases, the male can grow slightly bigger. A natural tone substrate will help enhance their impressive colors as they try to match their surrounding. The black stripes can vanish in to the yellow body as they mature. It's easy to tell a male from a female apart after they have matured, the male will intensify its colors as the female becomes dull and grey. Warmer temperatures around 80-81F will raise their immune system as well as their activity level, making their colors  brighter.
