Originated from Madagascar, the Starry Night Cichlid is now considered to be nearly endangered due to habitat loss and overfishing. A mature specimen, will show the coloration as the one seen in our picture. The Black base intensifies from a Brown to a solid Flat Black covered in white spots giving it the appearance of a Galaxy. A mature male will develop a small hump on their forehead giving it an aggressive appearance. Paratilapia Bleekeri is endemic to the Betsiboka river drainage in the northwest portion of the island.
