The Ovatus Cichlid is found in very shallow, rocky habitats, which is unique for Protomelas species. These species grows up to 12" inches long, which is rather large for most of the home Aquariums. A large size fish with a shy personality makes it easy to keep with other slightly smaller African Cichlids. Large water changes and a large tank is recommended for a long healthy life.
