Pigeon Blood Discus are by far one of the most popular Discus in the hobby and the reasons are visually obvious. These Discus sport an intensely colored pattern, that is sure to turn eyes in any Aquarium. The term “Pigeon Blood” is said to have come from Burma, where the locals would call the finest and most vivid rubies “ko-twe”, which means “Pigeon’s blood”. Others claim that the perfect-colored ruby is the same color as the central point of a pigeon’s eye. A fully developed Pigeon Blood Discus, will display the amazing pattern and color up to its name. The tail of Pigeon Blood Discus are almost always black.
